SunTrust Park: “Iconic” Development for Cumberland
SunTrust Park is an ambitious entertainment development project in a feat few pro sports team in the U.S. has attempted at the same time as stadium construction.
In addition to the 41,000-seat ballpark The Braves plan to debut in 2017, they are simultaneously developing an office tower to be occupied by Comcast, a hotel, hundreds of residential units and over 400,000 square feet of retail space. By the time the stadium opens, it will be just one element of the entertainment and residential district. Ripe for development, Cumberland has been but has lacked an “iconic” marker, SunTrust Park is poised to be the “four-star” venue icon for Cumberland.
SK Commercial Realty’s office suites on Circle 75 Parkway offer pedestrian access to the mixed-use development. The complex will feature high-end retailers like Anthropologie and lululemon, as well as merchants that are new to metro Atlanta. Restaurants from local and nationally-renowned chefs will line a plaza designed for outdoor events, a strategy designed to keep the area enlivened with activity 18 hours a day. The mixed-use design will keep the development active and viable even during the stadium’s off-season.
